1999 Centenary Yonex All-England Championships

This year’s Yonex All-England is the 125th Anniversary Championships 1899 – 2024, we look back at the Centenary Championships in 1999. With Peter Gade from Denmark being the hospitality guest speaker at the 2024 Yonex All-England, we selected a piece of film from the National Badminton Museum film library of Peter winning the men’s singles at the 1999 Centenary Yonex All-England Championships. In the final Peter had a 3-set match against Taufik Hidayat from Indonesia eventually winning 15-11, 7-15, 15-10. Peter Gade’s victory at the 1999 Centenary Yonex All-England Championships was the only time he lifted the famous Arthur Barron men’s singles trophy, although he did reach the final once more in 2004 but lost to the young Lin Dan from China winning his first of his six Yonex All-England titles.
